Merry Christmas From Mike Huckabee

December 17, 2007

A short great new ad has been released today.  It simply is Gov. Mike Huckabee wishing everyone a merry Christmas.  It is a sharp contrast from the attack adds of his political rivals.  It is a sharp contrast to so many in our day who want to say, happy holidays.  Mike mentions the purpose of Christmas in the add as he addresses celebrating the birth of Christ.  Merry Christmas to you Gov. Huckabee and to all the family and campaign team.

Watch this great TV add here, and give a generous gift today to help the commercial be broadcast in as many markets as possible.

In light of Gov. Huckabee’s insensative not so politicaly correct comments in the video above that are sure to offend many.  I offer another perspective for contrast.

A friend of mine sent this and I thought it was too good not to send as my own (I am very creative… I only borrow good stuff).

I actually borrowed the above line too.

To All My Politically Correct Friends:

Please accept, with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2008, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere. Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishee.

To All My Christian Friends:

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and may God bless you and yours!

How refreshing it is to hear a political candidate - or anyone on TV anymore- say, “Merry Christmas” and “the important thing is celebrating the birth of Christ” and “God bless you”.

  1. So tell me then. When he says “God Bless” how is that going to work for me? Since God won’t answer my prayers because Im a Mormon and he won’t listen to me and all others who don’t believe YOUR doctrine, I guess that’s just for the few huh? It’s amazing to me that I feel so incredibly blessed in my life… Humph! Go figure.

  2. It’s funny. I keep asking myself. Where are all the defenders of Huckabee? So far, I think I have witnessed 3 or 4 of them here. Could it be because the truth hurts? If you challenge me about my faith I will defend it in righteousness and here if you challenge Evangelicals they run and hide behind their shallow smear tactics.
Just an observation. Maybe you should have just made this a no-comment blog wherein you could be free to smear the Mormons without any rebuttal. I do commend you Brother Haisty for at least allowing us to voice our revulsion to the crud we are reading. That at least is good of you. I truly mean that. Thank you.

  3. IceBlue
Your welcome. I would like to respond to your two post and I am glad to interact with you. You sound like you would be an intresting fellow to talk with over coffee.

I will take your second blog comment first. Where are the Evangelicals. Well for one thing, I don’t think my website and its blog is as popular as you and others might think. What I mean is, I don’t even think that many pastors or Huckabee supporters are aware of the site. As you may know about blog pages, one can go to the statisics and check where people come from to get to your page or what search term with search enginees lead them to your web site. Most of my responces in the last week or so have come from links posted by pro-Romney or pro-Mormon websites like from BYU or something similar. Most of the folks who came by search engine came to this site based on searching for something about Huckabee and his question, if Mormonism taugth that Jesus and the Devil are brothers? So, you are right to notice that there have been waaay more Mormon people who support Mitt than Evangelicals or Baptist or others who support Mike. That has been an interesting development in the last week. You are welcome for expressing your gratitude for allowing rebuttal. Some of the comments have been good. I have been concerned that sometimes that what I am reading is just producing more HEAT than LIGHT. I really hope for respectful, thoughtful, honest discusion by all.

Secondly, to your first entry about Huckabee wishing “God bless you.” IceBlue, can I say to you right now with all sincerity, “May God Bless You”. I have no problem saying that and meaning it. Honestly. And I am sure that God has already blessed you as He has been gracious and kind to people all over the earth.

I understand from your comments, that you are probably taking exception with my #7 question about answered prayer. I am sure that must have offended you a great deal and leaves a nagging feeling now when you here Huckabee or me say God bless you. You probably are saying, you can’t mean it, if God can’t hear my prayers, or if at least I don’t believe that He will?

While I stand by my point at Question #7, I do mean it when I say “May God bless you.” I believe the same about Mike too.

For me, when I say God bless you, I understand the term bless to be equated to what Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount when He said blessed are the… He had nine statements where he pronounces a person as blessed are those who… The Greek work for blessed is makrios which I have studied and believe to be very much like grace as a concept where the Lord grants undeserved unearned favor based on His loving kindness. IceBlue, I don’t deserve to be blessed. I don’t believe any of us who are sinners -that is all of us - can ever earn or merit the favor and blessing of God. It is the blessing of God that causes us to abandon our pride and become poor in spirit. It is God’s favor and blessing that brings us to mourn over our sinfullness. It is God’s undeserved favor and blessing that causes us to yield our wills to the Lord in meekness and submission to His Lordship. It is the fact that a person is blessed that he will be brought to a place where he hungers and thirst after righteousness. It is this same undeserved favor and blessing from God based upon his free loving kindness that would produce in us the fruits of being merciful, at being pure at heart, at being peace makers, at being now a person who has the fruits of righteousness that would be persecuted by those who do not know the Lord.

These beatitudes are where the Lord blesses a person, not based on how good they are, or by their merit, these attitudes known as the beattitudes are the results of God’s work in a persons life. These qualities are not the cause of God’s blessing, but the fruit of God’s blessing. You can find these mentioned in Matthew chapter Five.

When I say, “God bless you.” I am saying that I desire God to pour out His rich loving blessing on your life. I don’t deserve it. I don’t believe you or anyone else could deserve it either.

A person does not have to be saved, for me to wish and honestly pray that they will get saved. A person does not have to be on praying ground with access to God, for me to honestly pray myself that they would come into that right standing with God based upon God’s grace at salvation. I don’t have to believe that you are walking in the ligth of the truth, for me to honestly wish and pray that you would one day soon walk in that light of the truth. I don’t even have to believe that right now you would go to heaven if you died, for me to honestly pray and wish that by the time that you do die, that you would be saved and end up going to heaven. All of those good things, I wish and pray for you to know and have.

IceBlue, just because I disagree with you about Mormonism, does not mean that I don’t consider you a human being and a person to honestly love. I don’t hate you. I love you! And if I am wrong about what I believe, then I am a fool who loves. But if I an right about what I believe, that doesn’t mean I wish harm on you. I still love you and desire God’s blessing to be richly given to you. I can honestly say it and mean it and pray it, IceBlue, “MAY GOD BLESS YOU!”

  4. Mike Huckabee’s ad is clearly another attempt by Huckabee to USE RELIGION for potitical purposes! Huckabee is nothing more than a white Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton who use religion. Whenever Huckabee needs to defend his stupid remarks or policies he either goes to he 1) Religion Card 2) Apology 3) Laugh matter off 4) I’m just a dumb country bumkin 5) Gee goly everyone is picking on me.

Mike how about standing up like a man and defending your words or actions. As each week goes by we learn just how pathetic you and your cool-aid drinking supporters are!

  5. What are Evangelicals doing? Stop the hate. Stop the anti-Mormonism. It is rampant among your people. Stop the anti-semitic feelings. Are you not ashamed, is this America or Germany circa 1930’s?

    Watch this before you vote:

  6. Hey everyone,
Merry Christmas and God bless you!
